My name is Lara. This blog is a work in progress. I’m a wedding photographer based in Victoria, BC, but I love to travel, especially to Ireland.
What Else I Love Doing: hoop dancing, checking out local arts events, seeing a great show in a tiny venue, taking road trips, singing to myself, learning new things, meeting new people, learning new things about those people.
My Influences: Jim Jarmusch’s black & white, Tom Wolfe & Hunter S. Thompson’s creative non-fiction, Danny Michel’s quirky & vivid storytelling, Wong Kar Wai’s colours, Fred Astaire’s footwork, John Vanderslice’s word pictures, Jimmy Stewart’s character, everyone around me.
Things That Make Me Smile: snuggling with my cat Freddie, really excited clients, cake, McLovin, blog comments, colourful shoes, hugs, cozying up inside on a rainy day, quirky people, Frank Capra movies.
What I’ve Done: earned 2 University degrees, spent a month in Ireland, played hockey in a mostly male league, driven 16 hours in one night to see a concert, fostered rescue cats, operated a 1929 manual elevator for tourists, driven across Canada alone, attended many weddings without even trying the cake.
Also Important: my name rhymes with Sarah. Unless you have a certain type of accent. In case you were wondering.
